NATSIAACC’s position statement welcomes the release of culturally safe Aged Care design guidelines as an important step forward, while making clear that guidance alone will not deliver improved outcomes. It emphasises that cultural safety must be embedded across legislation, funding and system design, not limited to design intent.

The statement calls for a shift from consultation to implementation, with genuine investment in community-controlled delivery to ensure culturally safe environments translate into lived experience for Elders and Older People.
