Position Statement – Commissioner Andrea Kelly’s Report – Transforming Aged Care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing and Aged Care Council (‘NATSIAACC’) welcomes the release of the Transforming Aged Care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People report by Interim First Nations Aged Care Commissioner, Andrea Kelly.

This important report, submitted to the Government, highlights key findings and recommendations based on extensive feedback from older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, their families, communities, service providers, and peak bodies. It provides a pathway for real and meaningful change in the aged care system to better support our Elders and Older people.

NATSIAACC fully supports the findings of Commissioner Andrea Kelly’s report and remains committed to advocating for culturally safe and appropriate aged care services for our Elders and Older people.
