The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing & Aged Care Council (NATSIAACC) has been officially launched at Australian Parliament House, Canberra on 31 July 2023.
Dr Matilda House delivered a Welcome to Country.
NATSIAACC Chair, Jill Gallagher AO delivered a keynote speech where she spoke about the profound importance of older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and the immense opportunity to make substantially better outcomes.
Aged Care Minister, Anika Wells, spoke at the event about the Federal Government’s commitment in this area, including the work to set up a new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander aged care assessment pathway and First Nations Aged Care Commissioner and Interim Commissioner roles.
Senator Richard Colbeck spoke, on behalf of shadow minister Anne Ruston.
