NATSIAACC, the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing and Aged Care Council, acknowledges the contribution of outgoing Inspector-General of Aged Care, Natalie Siegel-Brown, particularly her commitment to improving the Ageing and Aged Care experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and Older People.
NATSIAACC wishes her every success in her future endeavours and sincerely thanks her for advancing transparency, accountability, and system-wide reform during a critical period for Aged Care in Australia.
NATSIAACC CEO, Kim Whiteley, said the relationship with Ms. Siegel-Brown and the Office of the Inspector-General has been both constructive and important in progressing key issues impacting First Nations Elders and Older People.
“Natalie’s commitment to listening and bringing greater visibility to the lived experiences of our Elders and Older People within the system has been significant,” Ms. Whiteley said.
“We have appreciated the opportunity to work alongside her during this critical period of reform, and thank her for her genuine commitment to listening to and engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations.”
“At a time when Aged Care reform must translate into real change on the ground, her focus on accountability has helped keep that intent in view.”
NATSIAACC looks forward to continuing to work with the Office of the Inspector-General over the remaining period of Ms. Siegel-Brown’s tenure, and with her successor, to ensure reforms deliver culturally safe, accessible, and person-centred outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and Older People.
NATSIAACC thanks Natalie for her partnership and wishes her well in her next chapter.
