The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing and Aged Care Council (NATSIAACC) congratulates Senator Larissa Waters on her appointment as Leader of the Greens.
Senator Waters has long been a respected voice in the Australian Parliament, known for her steadfast commitment to environmental justice, gender equality, and human rights. Her elevation to the party leadership comes at a time when strong, values-driven leadership is needed to confront the intersecting crises facing our communities – including the urgent need for justice and equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
NATSIAACC Acting Chief Executive Officer, Cassara Hardie, said “Senator Waters’ appointment provides a renewed opportunity to strengthen collaborative efforts to ensure older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People are recognised, respected, and prioritised in policy and services.”
NATSIAACC acknowledges the Australian Greens’ long-standing advocacy for truth-telling, Treaty, and justice – and trusts that under Senator Waters’ leadership, these commitments will remain central to the party’s vision for a fairer and more inclusive Australia.
We extend our sincere congratulations to Senator Waters and wish her every success in her new role.
