The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing and Aged Care Council (NATSIAACC) is proud to announce the appointment of Kim Whiteley as its new Chief Executive Officer.
A proud Aboriginal woman and descendant from the Warramunga clan from the Wiradjuri Nation, Ms Whiteley brings over 35 years of executive leadership in Aboriginal Affairs, spanning health, aged care, land rights, workforce development, governance, and community services.
Ms Whiteley has a distinguished record of executive leadership. She has served as:
- CEO/National Manager of the Remote Area Health Corps
- Western Zone Director at the NSW Aboriginal Lands Council
- Head of First Nations Strategy and Engagement at Cancer Council Australia
Her career highlights include leading national reforms in cultural safety, influencing Closing the Gap priorities, championing cancer care pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and delivering community-led governance models.
Ms Whiteley’s leadership is grounded not only in her professional experience, but also in her lived experience. As the primary carer for her late mother into her 90s, she carries a deep personal understanding of the challenges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and Older People face in accessing culturally safe aged care.
“I am honoured to join NATSIAACC and lead this important organisation. Our Elders and Older People are the keepers of culture and identity, and they deserve to age with dignity, safety, and belonging. I will work to strengthen NATSIAACC’s voice nationally, ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices are heard in reform, and continue building services that reflect the priorities of our people,” Ms Whiteley said.
NATSIAACC’s Chair, Dr Jill Gallagher AO, welcomed the appointment, stating: “Kim brings outstanding leadership, cultural authority, and decades of experience at the highest levels of policy and community service. Her vision and commitment will be invaluable as NATSIAACC strengthens advocacy and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and Older People across the Country.”
The Board also extends its deep appreciation to Cassara Hardie, NATSIAACC’s Director of Operations, who has served with dedication and commitment as Acting CEO during the recruitment process. Ms Hardie has ensured stability, continuity, and strong advocacy for Elders and Older People during this important transition.
Ms Whiteley has officially commenced in her role on 15 September 2025.
