$70 Million Investment Announced for New Aged Care Facility in Darwin
The Australian Government has announced a significant $70 million investment to construct a new Residential Aged Care Facility in Darwin, addressing the critical shortage of Aged Care beds in the Northern Territory, the lowest number of beds in Australia.
This initiative aims to enhance Aged Care Services in the region, ensuring that older Australians, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and Older People, have access to quality, culturally appropriate care close to home. The new facility will not only increase the capacity of Aged Care Services but also create employment opportunities for local communities.
The investment is part of the Government’s broader commitment to improving Aged Care infrastructure and services across Australia, with a focus on regions that have been historically underserved.
“We welcome the Government’s commitment to enhancing Aged Care Services in the Northern Territory. This investment is a crucial step towards ensuring our Elders and Older People receive the care and respect they deserve.” Says NATSIAACC’s Acting CEO, Cassara Hardie.
