The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Ageing and Aged Care Council (NATSIAACC) is calling for Expressions of Interest from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders and Older People to join our Elders Council.

The Elders Council plays a vital role in guiding NATSIAACC’s work – providing cultural advice and insight on issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples accessing or needing to access ageing and aged care services.

This is an opportunity to ensure that the voices, experiences and cultural knowledge of our Elders and Older People are embedded in the national conversation on ageing and aged care.

NATSIAACC is seeking:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 years or over.
  • Those who have received aged care services (or can speak to the needs of those who have).
  • Elders and Older People who are passionate about improving access to culturally safe, trauma-aware and healing-informed care for our people.
  • 1 Member from each state and territory across Australia.

Members will:

  • Attend a minimum of two meetings per year (plus at least one with the NATSIAACC Board). These meeting will be online (with one meeting every two years being in-person at a location agreed by the Council Members).
  • Receive sitting fees and have travel costs covered.
  • Serve a three year term, helping shape culturally safe aged care policies and services nationwide.

For more information, please download the Expression of Interest Document.
